Week of sports

June 18-25 was a perfect period for a Week of sports, organized for young people in order to draw them closer to Christ through sport activity. These young people had a chance to “come off” in sport games.

Every day more than 400 participants came for sports during daytime and also for evening meetings. Soccer, volleyball and street ball grounds were just packed with people. Squash, small tennis, badminton, archery – these were just several thing in the list young people could busy themselves. Evening meetings caused as much excitement as sports. There were many surprises alongside with competitions, lotteries and rewarding ceremonies. Every day young sport lovers had new guests from different parts of Ukraine. These were famous Christian sportsmen who shared their own testimonies about God who has changed their lives: Alina Gorobets (a multiple champion in mini soccer, owner of Eurasia Cup and the best mini soccer player of 2009), Valentin Krynytsky (champion of Ukraine in middleweight boxing), Stephan Reshko (famous Ukrainian soccer player, former captain of Olympic team during Soviet Union times, “Dynamo” soccer team defender). These sportsmen dedicated all their success and lives to Jesus Christ whose name they proclaim. Stanislav Gruntkovsky, a New Hope worker, made a clothing of this event speaking about necessity and importance of building the life on right fundamental – Jesus Christ and His Word. Many young people came to visit this sport event after lectures and programs we had done in schools. After the sport week part of them went to Christian camps to have a fellowship and make friendship with young Christians.
